Alba Los Angeles has made its debut in West Hollywood, bringing the charm and sophistication of its New York counterpart, Cucina Alba, to the West Coast.
Created by Cobi Levy and Will Makris of Prince Street Hospitality, the dining concept is inspired by their travels, capturing the romance of an Italian holiday while incorporating the relaxed elegance of California.
Alba LA channels the Italian coast
Designed by New York-based GRT Architects, Alba LA evokes the allure of the Italian coastline with playful nods to the Mediterranean. A discreet, speakeasy-style entrance contrasts the restaurant’s sprawling 10,000-square-foot space, which features an open-air dining room, 14-seat bar, intimate lounge, and private dining room.
The main dining room
The main dining area, which can accommodate up to 120 guests, is a striking two-story space defined by large-scale blonde-wood bars and pastel-hued banquettes.
Overhead, wooden trellises draped in floral vines and greenery frame arched murals by artist Alex Proba, while the pièce de résistance—a retractable yellow-and-white striped roof—opens to reveal the night sky.
Meanwhile, details like white oak paneling, ivory leather upholstery, sandy terrazzo, and chrome-framed Cesca chairs are a callback to the original New York location.
Art curation, in partnership with Artemest and Creative Art Partners, enhances the convivial atmosphere via works by artists such as Stefan Simchowitz, Joey Wolf, and Diana Quandour.
Upstairs at Alba LA
Upstairs, the ambiance shifts to a more intimate setting. Guests can explore a suite of carpeted rooms, including a windowless bar with a smoky-mirrored ceiling and a gloss-burgundy private event space overlooking the courtyard.
